JANUARY 17, 2001

Nevada residents who oppose storing the nation's nuclear waste fear a new George W. Bush administration will bring it to Yucca Mountain.

Spencer Abraham, nominated to head the Department of Energy, has expressed support for putting waste there. Bush's ties to the energy industry are also worrying residents.

Tribes in the area have opposed the site because it is located on traditional sacred land.
