The Arizona Department of Transportation will preserve an ancient Hohokam village near Tuscon.

The site is located next to a planned expansion of an highway interchange. The site won't be turned into a park or monument, but it will be set aside and not affected by construction.

Some human remains have been discovered at the 10.5 acre site. Tohono O'odham tribal members have conducted ceremonies at the site. The tribe considers the inhabitants at the site and other Hohokam sites to be their ancestors.
