MONDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2001

Vandals have damaged rocks in Idaho considered sacred to the Nez Perce Tribe.

The cairns, or conical piles of rocks, are located on the Nez Perce and Lewis and Clark trails. One cairn was dismantled and its rocks scattered while two others were changed when they were rebuilt.
