Native American students in some Minnesota school districts, are disciplined at higher rates than their counterparts, a study by the St. Paul Pioneer Press has shown.

In Mahnomen, Native American students were 90 percent of the disciplinary actions reported to the state but 57 percent of the student population. Mahnomen County is home to the White Earth Band of Ojibwe.

The paper said the pattern was repeated in districts with high Native American populations.
