Oldest fossil of flower discovered

FRIDAY, MAY 3, 2002 Research published in today's issue of Science documents the discovery of a 125-million-year-old fossil in China. The fossil, described as in excellent condition, is the oldest and most primitive flowering plant to date. The flower lacked petals but had separate male and female parts. Get the Story:
