A central part of the Sand Creek Massacre site was deeded to the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma on Sunday.

A gaming company which manages a casino for the tribes bought the 1,465-acre parcel for $1.5 million. The land completes a historic site marking the 1864 massacre.

The Denver Post in an editorial calls the gift from Southwest Entertainment Inc. a chance for Colorado to "get on the right side of history."
