An investigation into a civil rights complaint filed by an Alaska Native student against the University of Alaska at Anchorage has turned up no wrongdoing at the school.

Tlingit student Diane Benson accused professor Linda McCarriston of racism and unequal treatment after she complained about a poem written by the teacher. Entitled "Indian Girls," Benson said the poem stereotyped Alaska Native women.

Benson said she was treated unfairly and received a poor grade in McCarriston's class after complaining about the poem. The Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights said it couldn't find evidence to support the claim.
