Native author challenges past

Author Shari Huhndorf was recognized as a woman warrior by the Alaska Native Studies Program at the University of Alaska for her work to reconcile and understand the treatment Alaska Natives have received.

Huhndorf was the keynote speaker yesterday at the "Women Warriors: Healing and Reconciliation" conference. Her book, "Going Native" examines how Native people have been portrayed by others.

She credits her work with her family, prominent in Alaska Native affairs.
