A recently released book documents the history of the Northern Cherokee Nation of the Old Louisiana Territory.

"We Are Not Yet Conquered" focuses on the tribe's history from removal in the southeastern United States to points elsewhere. Some Cherokee ended up in Oklahoma but these families settled in areas of Missouri, Arkansas and Kansas.

The Northern Cherokee Nation is recognized in Missouri and Arkansas. The tribe does not have federal recognition.
