The Quinnipiac University of Connecticut has decided to drop its "Braves" mascot because the board of trustees said it could be offensive to American Indians.

The school was named after the Quinnipiaks Tribe. The mascot decision affects only team names and a new name will be chosen.

The shcool's faculty senate, student government association, president's cabinet and alumni board all voted against keeping the name.
