WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 28, 2001 Scientists on Tuesday announced the discovery of an atmosphere around a planet outside the solar system, leading speculation that techniques can be used to find life in the galaxy. With the help of the Hubble Space Telescope, the scientists found a very large planet that orbits around star-like sun about 153 light-years away. The planet's atmosphere contains sodium which means it isn't conducive to human life. But since scientists were able to discover the chemical, they hope they can find atmospheres that might support life. Get the Story:
