School group not acting on Sioux shooting

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2001 The South Dakota High School Activities Association on Monday decided not to get involved in a recent incident that has lead to the arrest of two teens who allegedly shot a gun at the Crow Creek Tribe's girls basketball team. Board members said they did not have enough evidence to link the incident to a district playoff game in which the tribe's team played. The tribe and others wanted Miller, where the game took place, to be banned from hosting school sporting events. Two white teens from Miler have been charged in juvenile court for the November 1 incident. The local prosecutor is asking that they be tried in adult court. Get the Story:
