The Montgomery County school board in Maryland on Tuesday voted 6-1 to get rid of the "Indians" mascot at Poolesville High and passed a policy to keep mascot names, logos and mascots bias free.

The school will be given a year and $80,000 to make the transition. Community members had voted to keep the name earlier this year.
