School to get rid of Indian themes

TUESDAY, AUGUST 28, 2001 The Winner School District in South Dakota has decided to get rid of references to Indians in its homecoming ceremony. The school made the decision to head off a lawsuit threatened by Betty Ann Gross, a local activist. The school has already put together a task force on the issue and they recommended getting rid of Indian regalia and symbols from homecoming activities. Get the Story:
