MONDAY, AUGUST 13, 2001

A scholarship has been established in the name of Juanita Corwin, a Tlingit leader who died this past May.

Corwin was former executive director of the Central Council of Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes. She had worked her way to the position after starting with the organization as an office assistant.

The scholarhip was started by Corwin's late husband and her five children.
