TUESDAY, JULY 24, 2001 Ray Swinney, superintendent of the Mescalero Apache schools in New Mexico, has been chosen national Indian School Board administrator of the year. Swinney is a life-long educator in New Mexico and has worked with the Mescalero schools for four years, two as superintendent. The National Indian School Board Association is holding its summer conference in Portland, Oregon, this week. Secretary of Interior Gale Norton and Assistant Secretary Neal McCaleb are scheduled to address the conference today. Get the Story:
