Native school sees many changes

JULY 24, 2000

The Native American Preparatory School (NAPS), the first of its kind in the nation, has undergone many changes since its inception in 1995.

The school, located in Rowe, New Mexico, graduated its first class last year and continued its pattern of success this year by sending students off to schools like Cornell University, Columbia University, Stanford University, and Harvard University.

The students experienced some growing pains before then.

More recently, Headmaster Sven Huseby resigned in March. He is credited with bringing in donations to the school.

Since then, there have been several resignations from the board, firings in high positions, and an ouster of a trustee who became romantically involved with Huseby.
