Funding for a memorial to the Indian warriors who fought at the 1876 Battle of Little Bighorn is closer to reality 10 years after being approved but is not a done deal yet.

The Senate passed a Department of Interior spending bill which includes $2.3 million for the Montana project. The House, however, has not funded the memorial.

A joint conference between the two chambers will have to take up the difference. The chances for winning the funding are good, says a spokesperson for Sen. Conrad Burns (R-Mont.). A House committee has expressed support.
