The Maine Legislature on Thursday passed a bill requiring elementary and high schools to teach Indian history to students.

As part of the school curriculum's Maine studies court, an Indian component would be added. It would focus on tribal governments, history, and culture.

The bill is expected to be signed into law by Gov. Angus King.
