JUNE 6, 2000

Bertie Kee-Lopez left the Navajo Nation over 19 years ago on a horse, hoping to attend college. Along the way, she encountered many difficulties, eventually landing in Salt Lake City where she began work as a paralegal for the Native American Law Program at Utah Legal Services. The experience led her to enter law school at the University of Utah, where she is president of the Native American Law Student Association and is a member of the Women's Law Caucus. She will enter her final year of law school in the fall.
