JUNE 29, 2000 Problems in Indian education are being discussed at the 18th Annual National Indian Impacted School Association Conference this week in Omaha, Nebraska. About 200 Indian leaders, educators, students, and government officials are participating in the four-day conference which ends Friday. Actor Rodney A. Grant, Omaha Tribe, told a panel that they have failed to address real problems facing Indian students. In response to Cornel Pewewardy's statements about alcoholism and drugs being symptoms of European colonization, Grant said "If those are only symptoms, I hate to see what the problems are."
