Changes sought to Maryland mascots

The Maryland Commission on Indian Affairs has asked the Department of Justice and the state Board of Education for help in persuading school districts to rename 27 Indian related mascots in 12 counties.

The commission has been trying to get the schools to get rid of the mascots but has had little succses. The DOJ has agreed to meet with the commission next month to discuss the issue.
