S.D. school to drop Indian mascot

MAY 23, 2001 The Woonsocket school board on Monday voted 3-2 to get rid of the Woonsocket High School's "Redmen" mascot and nickname. The new mascot will now be decided by the student body. The student council last week had voted to drop the mascot. In an editorial, the Sioux Falls Argus Leader says the school made the right decision. Get the Story:
