MAY 12, 2000

After a two-year investigation by the US Attorney's Office, the University of Nebraska at Lincoln has been cleared of any wrongdoing over the handling of the human remains. Area tribes, including the Ponca, Santee Sioux, and Omaha, had been involved in a long dispute over the handling of bones by the University. In March, a University committee had recommended firing Professor Karl Reinhard over the controversy.
