Debate over remains continues
Repatriation of human remains currently in custody of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln is taking longer than expected, to the disappointment of area tribes. Several tribes, including the Omaha, Ponca, and Pawnee, began negotiations 18 months ago with the University who pledged to return as many as 1,600 remains to tribes but a group of "culturally unidentifiable" remains have yet to be returned.
