MARCH 7, 2001 Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Chairman Gregg Bourland on Tuesday said the tribe's college is negotiating to buy Huron University, a privately owned, for-profit school in South Dakota. Details aren't being discussed but talks between the Si Tanka College and Huron have been ongoing. The purchase would create two Si Tanka campuses: one at Eagle Butte on the reservation and the other at Huron. It would also allow the tribal college's academic programs to be accredited.
