NOVEMBER 9, 2000

Jim Craven, a professor at Clark College in Washington and a member of the Blackfeet Nation of Montana, says to celebrate Lewis and Clark is like celebrating Hitler's birthday.

Because of his views, he says he was kicked off a planning committee for Clark County. The commemoration committee, however, says they only asked Craven to "tone down" his remarks, as reported by The Associated Press.
