La Niña linked to Puebloan move

JANUARY 16, 2001 At a meeting of the American Meteorological Society , Henry Diaz, a climate researcher, on Monday offered up his theory on why ancient Puebloan communities moved from the Four Corners region of the southwest to locations south. Diaz says the weather condition known as La Niña could have increased water supplies in the south at a time when water in the Colorado Plateau was scarce. But others say there may be no way to test Diaz' hypothesis. Get the Story:
