College president won't resign

NOVEMBER 27, 2000

Janine Pretty On Top says she won't resign as president of the Little Big Horn College on the Crow Reservation in Montana because she doesn't view the actions of the board of trustees as legitimate.

The board sent a letter to Pretty on Top asking her to leave by November 30. But herself and board president Dillard Birdinground don't believe the meeting at which the letter was drafted was legitimate. They say there wasn't a quorum of nine, or half, of the members present at the meeting.

At dispute are evaluations of Pretty on Top's job performance. Members who signed the letter said she has not submitted, but Pretty on Top disagrees.
