Woman takes over Indian arts center

OCTOBER 31, 2000 Kathleen Whitaker is the new director of the Indian Arts Research Center at the School of American Research in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Whitaker is an anthropologist who has consulted with Navajo Tribal Museum in Window Rock, Arizona, and the new National Museum of the American Indian under construction in Washington, DC. She will be in charge of several programs at the center, which houses a collection of Southwest Indina art and artifacts from Spanish contact to the present. Get the Story:
