Keeping the Cheyenne language alive is a major goal of Chief Dull Knife College on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Montana.

The tribal college has a language teacher certification program to train more teachers in the language. And through a grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation the school has developed a curriculum to help the Northern Cheyenne Tribe keep the language alive.

About 40 percent of Northern Cheyenne tribal members speak the language, said college president Richard Littlebear.
