FRIDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2001

Tribal leaders and National Park Service officials can finally rest knowing a memorial to the Indian warriors who fought at the Battle of the Little Bighorn will be recognized.

Congress on Wednesday approved a $19.1 billion Department of Interior spending bill that provides $2.3 million for the construction of the memorial. Although authorized by Congress in 1990, no funds were provided since.

The memorial will feature bronze tracings of three warriors, representing the Sioux, Cheyenne and Arapahoe tribes.
