Mascot protest 'really righteous'

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2001 A group of American Indian students and their supporters took part in a spontaneous two-day, several-hour protest last week against Florida State University's "Seminole" mascot. It started when a member of a student group sat down at the Student Union with a poster protesting the mascot and logo. Others joined him because his action was "really righteous," Jeannete Harstein told the campus newspaper. Although the Seminole Tribe of Florida says the use of the mascot is acceptable, the students say it is inaccurate. Get the Story:
