MONDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2001 The Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament have put up the St. Catherine's Indian School in Santa Fe, New Mexico, up for sale. Founded in 1895, the school dedicated to educating mostly Pueblo youth while emphasizing the Catholic religion has slowly run out of funds. Classes were last held in 1998 and the nuns have been accepting offers since May on the 11-acre campus. An attorney for the sisters say there has been great interest in the site, which includes buildings on the local historic register. The sisters say they would like to see its new purpose benefit Pueblo people, but probably not as a casino. The property is said worth at least $2.5 million. Get the Story:
