OCTOBER 10, 2000

On Monday, the mayor of Santa Fe declared Columbus Day "Sante Fe Indian School Day."

Larry Delgado made the pronouncement while at a dedication of the school's new Math, Science and Technology Center. The center cost $4 million to build and contains two computer labs and classrooms.

New Mexico Senators Pete Domenici and Jeff Bingaman, and congressman Tom Udall, were also present at the school, giving speeches. Congress allocated money to build the center.

Normally, students don't get the day off. But yesterday, they were given a break to attend the ceremony.
