Painted ponies fetch high prices

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2001 A group of 25 fiberglass horses in The Trail of Painted Ponies were auctioned off on Tuesday night in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Many of them fetched high prices, including $9,000 for "Crow Indian War Pony" by Crow artist Kevin Red Star. Like the others, 80 percent of the funds raised will go to charity. There are 119 horses total in the statewide exhibit. Get the Story:
