The Institute of American Indian Arts Museum has dropped out of a film festival because of a questionable business deal.

The museum, which is run by the Institute of American Indian Arts, a tribal college, was going to provide space and staff for the Santa Fe Film Festival. But since one person owns and controls the festival's name and trademark, the museum and others said there could be a conflict of interest over the event, which is supposed to be non-profit.

An attorney who reviewed the film festival's licensing agreement said there are legal uncertainties over the deal.

The festival, which is in its second year, is set to begin December 5.
