JANUARY 22, 2001

An arts and crafts law designed to protect Indian artists and consumers often sees little action.

The Indian Arts and Crafts Board, an agency of the Department of Interior, receives little written requests regarding alleged violations of the law. The IACB also has a budget of less than $1 million. The Indian arts market is estimated at $1 billion.
