S.D. father sues over tribal police accident

THURSDAY, JULY 24, 2003 The father of a boy who was hit by a car during a police pursuit on the Pine Ridge Reservation is suing the federal government. Jay Schreiner Sr. blames the Oglala Sioux tribal police for negligence. Officers were chasing a suspect when the suspect's car hit an 11-year-old boy, breaking both his legs. The suit seeks $600,000.
