Navajo groups meet to oppose uranium development

TUESDAY, JULY 22, 2003 A coalition of Navajo grassroots groups held a conference against uranium development this past Saturday. The Diné Bidziil coalition heard from Navajo President Joe Shirley Jr. and Vice President Frank Dayish Jr. Both said they would oppose uranium development on Navajo lands. Navajo groups are opposing uranium development on the eastern part of the Navajo Reservation. The case is currently before an administrative law judge with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, The Gallup Independent reported. Get the Story:
