Tensions rise in B.C. over fishing deal

TUESDAY, JULY 22, 2003 A fishing rights agreement between the Cheam First Nation of British Columbia and the federal government is heightening tensions. Former chief June Quipp said changes to the agreement may force tribal fishermen to carry guns. Currently, Department of Fisheries and Oceans officers are limited in the how they carry out the law.
