Horses seized from Shoshone sisters found dead

WEDNESDAY, JULY 16, 2003 Horses the Bureau of Land Management recently seized from two Western Shoshone sisters in Nevada have been found dead. The 47 horses were apparently dumped on federal land by the man who promised to take the horses from the Dann sisters and keep them on his ranch in California. The animals appear to have died from malnutrition or trampling. BLM has seized horses, cattle and other livestock from Mary and Carrie Dann. The sisters say they don't have to pay federal grazing fees on land still owned by the Western Shoshone Nation. Get the Story:
