Ariz. tribe's summer program running out of money

TUESDAY, JULY 15, 2003 The Gila River Indian Community of Arizona is looking for ways to continue a summer program for kids that emphasizes tribal culture along with reading, writing and math. The tribe currently receives a federal grant from the 21st Century Community Learning Centers. Students at the Gila Crossing Community School learn about agriculture, pottery and other aspects of Pima and Maricopa culture. Get the Story:
