Hualapai teen shot by tribal police officer

WEDNESDAY, JULY 2, 2003

A teenage member of the Hualapai Tribe of Arizona was shot to death by a tribal police officer.

A tribal employee told The Arizona Republic that tribal officials were briefed about the shooting of the 16-year-old victim. The employee said the officer appears to have acted in self-defense.

The FBI and a state law enforcement unit are investigating.
