The Bureau of Indian Affairs on Monday published notice of a land-into-trust acquisition for the Elk Valley Rancheria of California.

The 5.10 acres was taken into trust pursuant to federal regulations. But the tribe exempt from the blanket post-1988 ban on gaming on newly acquired trust lands because its federal status was restored pursuant to litigation.

The notice, published in the Federal Register, will become final within 30 days unless challenged. It was signed June 3 by acting assistant secretary Aurene Martin.
