Woman sworn in to lead Tohono O'odham Nation

MONDAY, JUNE 30, 2003 Vivian Juan-Saunders was sworn in Friday as the first woman leader of the Tohono O'odham Nation of Arizona. Juan-Saunders and running mate Ned Norris Jr. defeated the incumbent tribal leaders in an election last month. They are promising to improve education, housing and infrastructure. Get the Story:
