Officials suspect foul play in Kickapoo death

THURSDAY, JUNE 26, 2003 Law enforcement officials in Texas are furious that a 9-year-old girl from the Kickapoo Tribe was buried ceremoniously in Mexico without an autopsy or further investigation. A justice of the peace allowed the girl's family to take her from a hospital where she had been brought. According to law enforcement, she could have been the victim of sexual assault. A tribal spokesperson said there was no indication of foul play. A Texas ranger ridiculed the suggestion from tribal police that she died from choking on a Cheeto. Get the Story:
