'Diamonds' worn by elder only worth 99 cents

FRIDAY, JUNE 20, 2003 After reading a Wall Street Journal article about the Southern Ute Tribe of Colorado, a Houston businessman thought he may have found the expensive diamond bracelet his wife lost in the area. The article described tribal elder Annabelle Eagle, 79, as wearing a diamond bracelet. But it turns out the item was a knock-off that her son bought at Wal-Mart for 99 cents. Get the Story:
