Ariz. bishop arrested for hit and run death

TUESDAY, JUNE 17, 2003 Police in Phoenix arrested a Catholic bishop on Monday in connection with the hit and run death of Jim Lee Reed, a member of the Navajo Nation. Bishop Thomas J. O'Brien is currently charged with leaving an accident scene. He allegedly hit Reed this past Saturday, leaving him in the middle of the street, where Reed was apparently hit by another vehicle. O'Brien's car showed visible damage from the accident. He reportedly tried to have his windshield repaired. Reed was a construction worker. O'Brien has come under fire for his handling of sex abuse charges against the Catholic Church. Get the Story:
