NCAI hosting mid-year conference in Ariz.

MONDAY, JUNE 16, 2003 The National Congress of American Indians official kicks off its mid-year conference today at the Gila River Reservation in Arizona. The conference focuses on helping tribes exercise their sovereignty. Sessions on tribal courts, land-into-trust, economic development, law enforcement and leadership are being held. NCAI also hosted a summit on Saturday to focus on policy issues that impact Indian Country. Tribal leaders discussed the federal budget, consultation and tribal-state relations. Get the Story:
